GREENVILLE — For the fifth straight week, the Charleston Tigers remain the No. 1 football team in the Delta, according to the Delta Touchdown Club Power Poll.
Charleston (8-1, 3-0 District) defeated Independence 50-0 last week. The Tigers have shut out their opponents in six out of nine games. In the last five games, Charleston has won by a combined score of 248-8, with Palmer being the only team to score any points against a tough Tiger defense.
The top six teams from Week 8 remain at their same spot for Week 9.

Taking GWHS’s spot on the poll is South Delta (6-3, 2-1 District), who defeated Riverside 45-0 Friday night.
Washington School’s 43-14 loss to Jackson Academy dropped them from No. 7 to No. 10. Meanwhile, Leland’s 44-8 homecoming win over Marshall moved them from No. 8 to No. 7.
Clarksdale went from No. 9 to No. 8 after defeating Gentry 19-12.
